Evolve Emerges from Closed Beta to Debut Universal Platform for Gaming

MIinneapolis, MN (PRWEB) January 16, 2012

Today, Echobit, LLC (http://www.echobit.com) announces the release of its next generation social network and toolset for gamers, called Evolve (http://www.evolvehq.com). After an exciting 8 months in closed beta (and adding 8,000 members along the way), the three-person startup has quietly built a platform that maximizes the reach and influence of gamers’ and the games they play within the rapidly expanding, increasingly disconnected video game universe.

FRAGMENTATION = FAIL

The video game industry is multiplatformed and wildly incongruent. PCs and consoles have been joined by mobile devices, social networks and tablets to amass a global audience of over 1.2 billion gamers—up from 250 million just a few years ago—an audience with extremely limited ability to consolidate their various exploits into one discrete gaming context. “Today’s gamers want to remain whole and in control of their gaming lives across any game, publisher or platform,” states Adam Sellke, Co-founder and CEO of Echobit. “Publishers and hardware manufacturers like Activision/Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft, Valve, Zynga, Apple, Microsoft, Sony and others are all protecting their respective turfs on Battle.net, Call of Duty Elite, Origin, uPlay, Steam, GameCenter, Xbox Live, Play Station Network and the like. That’s nuts. These silos and walled gardens unnecessarily constrain gamers’ freedom, so we created Evolve.”

L’EGGO YOUR EGO

Evolve provides gamers an elegant view of their gaming world from a single profile. From it, players are treated to stats, rankings and charts of the games they and their friends are enjoying. Evolve not only gives players a place to roost, but also plenty of ways to crow. “A big part of gaming is bragging,” contends Sellke. “Evolve lets you really show ‘em who’s boss.” The platform supports the ability to import and aggregate various gaming achievements onto a profile. Also, Evolve members are equipped with “live” badges for touting their prowess with up-to-the-minute data on sites and forums. Evolve has recently added in-game screen and video capture to help gamers “prove once and for all that their kung fu is the best,” says Sellke.

QUIT PLAYING WITH YOURSELF

There are a lot of social tools and game tracking/achievement aggregators out there, but no other platform directly facilitates game coordination and connectivity like Evolve. “Everything we do is aimed at maximizing the gaming experience for gamers,” says Sellke. “A big part of that is bringing gamers together and reducing the time it takes to actually get playing.” Multi-protocol IM, group chat and in-party VoIP allow gamers to connect, gab and kvetch to each other, virtually anywhere, in real-time. Friendships can be inherited from Facebook. Others are able to be recruited via invitation links that bring players together as friends or into groups and parties. Joining a party establishes a VPN connection in one-click for LAN play and built-in VoIP. One other feature, an industry first, is the party finder—a universal matchmaking system that allows gamers to poll the network for multiple games of interest at the same time. As soon as the system finds others who share the same pursuits, all those concerned are offered a match and, upon acceptance, are instantly placed into a party.

SUMMARY

Fragmentation and platform proliferation threaten gamers’ ability to maintain a singular reference point to their gaming activities and limits their social value. Evolve, through its game-agnostic connectivity tools and common player profile is establishing a free, open and universal platform in this space, spanning the void and making it the inevitable solution.

Formaldehyde Demand to Go Up Leaving Production Levels Behind According to Merchant Research & Consulting Ltd

Formaldehyde Demand to Go Up Leaving Production Levels Behind According to Merchant Research & Consulting Ltd

http://mcgroup.co.uk/

London, UK (PRWEB) January 20, 2012

Today the key end-use areas of formaldehyde are urea-, phenol-, and melamine-formaldehyde resins – they account for approximately 66% of the total demand on the global formaldehyde market. As these industries are on the growth path after the recession period, the demand for formaldehyde is also on stable rise. It is notable that international trade within the industry is small – as shipment hazards are there, this material is produced close to the consuming facilities.

The global formaldehyde production and consumption happed to reach a perfect balance in 2010 – the both figures reached around 29 tonnes. However, the demand is projected to go up steeply leaving the production volumes behind. In the coming five years the formaldehyde consumption will grow by 5% annually. However the manufacturing utilization rates will reach only 80% by that time.

Comprehensive review of the formaldehyde market is presented in the new market research report “Formaldehyde: 2012 World Market Outlook and Forecast up to 2017”. The report gives out a full picture of the market by examining it from the global, regional and country perspective and providing data on the past and present of the industry and its future development.

The information covered within the report makes up a thorough analysis of the key formaldehyde market metrics – production and consumption in the reviewed countries, trade statistics, and prices for the material during the reviewed period. Market projections indicate future developments and trends, opportunities and hurdles, prices and volumes during the period through 2017.

NAPW Jacksonville Local Chapter is Treated To Financial Health ?Check-up? By Guest Speaker Charu Raheja, Ph.D.

NAPW Jacksonville Local Chapter is Treated To Financial Health ‘Check-up’ By Guest Speaker Charu Raheja, Ph.D.

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 20, 2012

The NAPW Jacksonville Local Chapter met to determine which local charities to focus on and learn how to achieve financial stability from guest speaker Charu Raheja, Ph.D., of Triage Logic. Eight people were in attendance for the monthly networking event.

Jenni Edwards, Chapter President, welcomed those in attendance to the meeting. Two new members were in attendance, so the group briefly introduced themselves to one another. It was determined that social media, such as a chapter Facebook page, would be a welcomed addition to the group and would help meeting attendance grow. Jenni agreed to hold the regularly scheduled meetings each month to be accommodating to as many members as possible. The group is still seeking individuals to fill the positions of VP of Total You and VP of Hospitality and Outreach.

As next month’s meeting is February 13th, just before Valentine’s Day, it was decided that a pot luck dinner would be held to celebrate the holiday. Details will be sent to chapter members prior to the meeting. There is no planned speaker for this meeting; the group plans to focus every third or fourth meeting on charity, agenda planning and internal matters, instead of hosting a speaker. Also, a number of the Jacksonville Chapter members live at the beaches so the group discussed potentially meeting closer to the beaches once per quarter. Location suggestions were invited.

Shana Herrin, VP of Charitable Acts, researched charities with which the chapter could become involved. The five charities the group voted to focus on included Foster Closet, Project S.O.S., Sister to Sister Foundation, Women’s Center of Jacksonville, and Betty Griffin House. Chapter members will decide at the next meeting which charity to focus on as their main charity for the year. Shana will do a monthly summary on charities and events, so members were advised to contact her with any ideas. The Donna 26.2 is coming up on February 12th and is still in need of volunteers.

“We were very excited to welcome guest speaker Charu Raheja, Ph.D.,” said Jenni. “She spent the remainder of the meeting sharing basic finance information in a presentation titled Risk, Return, and Investment.” Dr. Raheja emphasized the fact that time is money, sharing the equation FV=C(1+r)t (Future Value is equal to the Cost multiplied by 1 plus the borrowing Rate to the power of Time) to demonstrate why $ 1 today is worth more than $ 1 tomorrow. If clients want to pay bills in the future, it is advisable to charge more and inform them of the discount they’d be receiving by paying today.

For example, if a client owes a construction company $ 500,000 (C) today and wants to pay in one year (t), the construction company needs to borrow that money from the bank at 10% (r) to pay their contractors. Per the above state equation FV=500,000(1+.10)1 the client would owe $ 550,000 one year from now.

Dr, Raheja explained the difference between stocks and bonds, and provided reasons why higher risk can lead to higher reward. While explaining Stocks Risk, Market Risk and Unique Risk, she also advised that one should always diversify her portfolio as much as possible. She also recommends utilizing The Vanguard Group to open a bank account.

Jenni Edwards closed the meeting with the announcement of two new officers: Dr. Charu Raheja – VP of Finance for Charitable Accounts and Jennifer Mann – Photographer/Media Relations. Upcoming Meetings were also announced: Wednesday January 25th at 6:30pm at Corner Bistro & Wine Bar (9823 Tapestry Park Circle, Jacksonville, FL 32246), a social event to network and promote local businesses; and Monday February 13th at 6:30pm at Stellar (Brick Building on Property -2900 Hartley Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257).

The 2011 Import and Export Market for Textile Wadding, Wicks, and Fabrics for Use in Machinery and Plants in Finland

The 2011 Import and Export Market for Textile Wadding, Wicks, and Fabrics for Use in Machinery and Plants in Finland

On the demand side, exporters and strategic planners focusing on textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants in Finland face a number of questions. Which countries are supplying textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants to Finland? How important is Finland compared to others in terms of the entire global and regional market? How much do the imports of textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants vary from one country of origin to another in Finland? On the supply side, Finland also exports textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants. Which countries receive the most exports from Finland? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers?

This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants in Finland. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants for those countries serving Finland via exports, or supplying from Finland via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models.

In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Finland fits into the world market for imported and exported textile wadding, wicks, and fabrics for use in machinery and plants. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Finland in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key

Film Composer Maria Andriasova Esparza is Nominated for 2009 “Mozart Award” from International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK for her Original Music

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 7, 2009

Moscow-born, American concert pianist, film composer, and producer Maria Andriasova Esparza (http://www.andriasovaesparza.com) is nominated for a distinguished 2009 International “Mozart Award” from the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK for her original music, following in the footsteps of her late father, the legendary Russian composer and philosopher Iosif Andriasov, who was honored with the “International Man of the Year Award” in 2000 from the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK. A winner of three consecutive Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Awards, Maria Andriasova Esparza received her education at the Moscow P.I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Russian Academy of Sciences (concentration in mathematics), and the Juilliard School in New York (Bachelor Degree), and is represented by the Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) as a composer. Maria is married to Guillermo Esparza (http://www.guillermoesparza.com), the celebrated American iconographer, sculptor, and painter.

In June of 2009, Maria Andriasova Esparza composed, performed, and recorded an original soundtrack to a documentary film about her husband, “Guillermo Esparza, an American Iconographer”, an original production by Los Angeles filmmaker Veronica Aberham for Studio-Online, an affiliate of London-based Studio International. The film was released on June 1st, 2009 and premiered on June 7, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in New York for its 200th year anniversary, after the historic Mass delivered by Archbishop Timothy Michael Dolan.

The prominent New York socialite, fundraiser, concert pianist, film composer, and producer Maria Iosifovna (Andreasian) Andriasova Esparza, was born in Moscow into a family of celebrated musicians, with a direct musical lineage to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and an ancestral lineage to Prince Alexander Vasilievich Suvorov. Maria Andriasova started playing piano and composing at the age of three under the direction of her father, the legendary Russian composer Iosif Arshakovich Andriasov. Maria’s maternal grandfather, Professor Leonid Vasilyevich Kudryashov, was Chairman of the biology department at the Moscow Lomonosov University. Maria’s maternal great-grandfather, Professor Veniamin Aleksandrovich Lebedev, established the Arkhangelsk University. At the age of six, Maria enrolled at the Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory. At the same time, Maria performed her first compositions at the Union of Composers in Moscow. She also studied at the Russian Academy of Sciences with concentration in mathematics.

Maria made her professional debut at the age of nine as actor and narrator in the legendary Second Symphony by Iosif Andriasov (for which Mr. Andriasov refused the Lenin Prize from the Soviet government and became a notorious political figure), reciting text by the poet laureate Vladimir Lazarev, under the baton of Maestro Gennady Cherkasov with the Big Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Radio and Television (now known as the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow under Maestro Vladimir Fedoseyev, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor). The Second movement of Iosif Andriasov’s Second Symphony tells a story of young Maria (nicknamed “Marianka”), and of her childhood drawings.

In 1979, Ms. Andriasova moved to New York City with her parents. US Senators Jacob Javits, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and Edward Kennedy were instrumental in bringing the family to the USA. Maria continued her piano studies at The Juilliard School and also continued her studies of studio art and drama at The Professional Children’s School, where, at a personal invitation by Mrs. Marion Javits, she was introduced to performing for charitable events. Maria earned her bachelor’s degree from The Juilliard School, being awarded full-scholarship throughout the program in the class of Concert Pianist and Professor Oxana Yablonskaya. Maria continued her studies of life drawing and painting at the Art Students League in New York in the class of Barbara Adrian (studio of Reginald Marsh). At the same time, she developed an interest in the world of finance.

To further her knowledge of the stock market and investment strategies, in 1998, Maria launched her successful financial career working for Robert Soros and George Soros at Soros Fund Management in New York, and now specializes in Private Asset Management. In 2000, Maria received an honorary award from Art Students League in New York for her portraits of Beethoven, Stravinsky, Richard Strauss, and the poet Nikolai Kluyev. As a concert pianist, Maria won The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship awards (Lisbon, Portugal) during three consecutive years (1984, 1985, 1986); she is the recipient of the P.A. Schaffer award, New York; Maro and Anahid Ajemian award; Jewish Foundation for the Education of Women award; Armenian Diocese Association award (Boston, MA); “Outstanding Musician of the 20th Century” award from the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK with a commemorative medal in 1999; and is listed in the International Who’s Who in Music, England since 2000. In May 2009, Ms. Andriasova Esparza was invited to join the Board of Directors of The Highbridge Voices, part of The Highbridge Community Development Corporation (HCDC), a web of services and initiatives that began in 1988 in a massive effort to revitalize the South Bronx community of Highbridge.

Maria Andriasova Esparza is a co-producer of two “In Memoriam” festivals dedicated to the music of her late father, composer Iosif Andriasov, as well as audio and video recordings of the festivals: in Moscow, at the Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory Grand Hall, with Russian Federal Orchestra, soloists of the Bolshoi Theater, Maestro Vakhtang Jordania, conductor (2002); and in Yerevan, Armenia, at Aram Khatchaturian Symphony Hall, with Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra under Ohan Duryian, Maestro Karen Durgaryan, conductor, and the Choir of Armen Akob Cultural Centre, Maestro Armen Amirkhanian, conductor (2001). In 1995, Asahi Broadcasting Corp., Tokyo, Japan, released a documentary film on Maria’s father, composer Iosif Andriasov, where Maria served as an interpreter for her father. Maria also composed, performed, and recorded the soundtrack for Bryn Magnus’ experimental Off-Off Broadway play “George Sand”, with performances in New York, Madison, Wisconsin, and St. Thomas, Virgin Islands (Anne Biberman Productions.) Maria has performed internationally, including all major concert halls in New York City: The Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium (Maestro Richard Westenburg, conductor) and the Weill Recital Hall; at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts: Alice Tully Hall (Maestro Bruno Ferrandis, conductor), Avery Fisher Hall (Maestro Richard Westenburg, conductor); In 2002, she was invited by the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and performed Piano Trio by her father, Iosif Andriasov, at Davis Symphony Hall; performed and recorded with the Big Symphony Orchestra of Radio and Television, Moscow (Maestro Gennady Cherkasov, conductor); appeared on radio and television, including CBS Special on The Juilliard School, PM Magazine for The Fox Network, broadcast over “Organisation Internationale de Radiodiffusion et de Télévision” (Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Finland, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the European republics of the former USSR), Asahi TV (Japan), Yomiuri (Japan), Russian All-State Radio, and Radio Freedom (Philippines). Maria Andriasova Esparza has premiered several dozen contemporary compositions, a number of which have been dedicated to her, and has participated in American Landmarks Festival and Dmitry Kabalevsky Festival.

Maria Andriasova Esparza is married to Guillermo Jose Esparza (http://www.guillermoesparza.com), the celebrated American sculptor, iconographer, and painter, whose works are in the permanent collections at the Vatican Museum in Rome, the Phanar Museum in Istanbul, Turkey, the US National Archives, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

In 1995, Maria Andriasova was invited by Donald Trump, as US cultural representative, to perform at the Gala concert dedicated to His Holiness Pope John Paul II’s visit to the United States to commemorate the International Year of the Family and to celebrate the friendship between the United States and the Vatican. At this event she met her future husband, American artist Guillermo Esparza, whose Ecumenical sculptures were commissioned by Archbishop Iakovos, Former Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America, funded by the American Greek Orthodox community and a Catholic community of the US. His Eminence Archbishop Iakovos presented the silver sculptures to the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, on his historic visit to the Vatican, presented the sculpture to His Holiness Pope John Paul II, and kept the other sculpture at the Phanar in Constantinople. Maria and Guillermo Esparza were married by Bishop Rodney Michel at the Episcopal Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City, New York, under Guillermo Esparza’s Mural of the Pantokrator, Archangels Michael and Gabriel.

Maria enjoys presenting poetry at her recitals, and regularly performs her original music set to readings by various poets, including Guillermo Esparza’s “The Seaward Angel of Desire” from his “Versos Delfines” series. Maria’s latest project is writing and performing music for sacred spaces, which accompanies sacred artwork installations of Guillermo Esparza in cathedrals and churches internationally. Maria Andriasova Esparza and Guillermo Esparza live and work in Manhattan.

Seniors Face Tough Times this Holiday Season; Home Instead Senior Care Network Offers 10 Money-Saving Tips

Seniors Face Tough Times this Holiday Season; Home Instead Senior Care Network Offers 10 Money-Saving Tips

In an effort to help older adults make the most of this holiday season, the Home Instead Senior Care network offers 10 money-saving tips

Omaha, NE (PRWEB) December 15, 2011

Even though Congress increased the debt ceiling earlier this year, allowing older adults to get Social Security checks on time, seniors face financial challenges that could contribute to a bleak holiday.

In 2011, for the second consecutive year, seniors received no Social Security Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), according to the Annual Survey of Senior Costs from The Senior Citizens League (TSCL), a senior advocacy organization. What’s more, seniors can expect to receive only a very small COLA next year, TSCL reported. Unfortunately, a downward trend is continuing for older adults. Since 2000, the COLA has increased just 31 percent, while typical senior expenses have jumped 73 percent, more than twice as fast, according to the survey.

“Cuts of essential items such as food and medication should be of immediate concern to seniors’ families,” said President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Jeff Huber of Home Instead, Inc., franchisor of the Home Instead Senior Care® network.

“Other reductions in spending can lead to less obvious issues. One of the biggest problems that we see is senior isolation, which has been magnified during this troubled time in the economy, especially considering the high price of gas,” he added.

In an effort to help older adults make the most of this holiday season, the Home Instead Senior Care network offers the following money-saving tips:

1.    Consider in-home care. The costs of home care are often lower than other living options for seniors who need help. However, seniors and their families typically over-estimate that cost, according to research conducted for the Home Instead Senior Care network.

2.    Economize at mealtime. Look for affordable meal options such as Meals on Wheels® or a local senior center, which can offer both cost savings and opportunities for companionship.

3.    Get back to basics. While winter might not be a great time to garden in many parts of the country, container and potted gardens can be grown indoors year-round to deliver fresh herbs or even produce.

4.    Avoid convenience. While that might seem like a strange statement, convenience many times equates to increased cost, especially when it comes to food. Avoid convenience foods and watch for sales on fresh or canned fruits, vegetables and meats, which can be less expensive.

5.    Look for deals. It always pays to look for the best price, but no more so than with medications. Buy generic when possible. Contact a pharmacist about ways to save money on medications.

6.    Thrifting is thrifty. Just because money is tight doesn’t mean that family and friends need to go without a holiday gift. Look to thrift stores for affordable gifts. Or make presents. A grandchild likely would love a recipe box of favorite family recipes and the stories that go with those dishes. Scrapbooks always are popular as well.

7.    Carpooling makes sense. If it’s too cold to walk, contact others going in the same direction or to the same place and share costs.

8.    Save energy. Installing weather-stripping, caulking leaky doors and windows, and installing gaskets behind outlet covers can lead to cost savings.

9.    Decorate the natural way. Go green and save money. It’s amazing the beautiful holiday ornaments that can be created from pine cones and branches sprayed with silver, white or gold paint. Cranberry and popcorn garlands make pretty and affordable decorations as well.

10.    Look to the experts. Call a local Area Agency on Aging if the costs of food and gas have become prohibitive. For more information about programs and resources, contact the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging.

Family caregivers can look to the Home Instead Senior Care network’s many online resources, such as the CaregiverStress.com website, to help seniors and their loved ones cope during difficult times.
